Azure invoice experience

What a nice start for a day to receive an email regarding my Azure account.

Well, luckily it has a link that helps to solve the problem. Right? So let’s click the link to see what happens.

It takes me to the payment methods page listing my credit card. There must be some balance to settle! But there is not. It says the balance is 0.00 and the “Settle balance”-link is grayed out. Also no mention about the “simple authentication process” that would help to resolve the payment authorization.

Let’s check the product page if we have some information there. And there sure is! It seems my Power BI Pro has expired on 5/24/2021. But wait … the current date is 2/1/2021 so it has expired in the future? For my convenience Microsoft has put a “Reactivate now” link to the page which will sure solve the problem! Clicking the link however does not reactive but does React fail instead. Microsoft has reserved some fail for your Safari as well so switching the browser didn’t help.

The invoice page lists the invoices and no clues there whatsoever. Also searched Azure and O365 admin pages but couldn’t find any tips for paying the balance nor doing the authorization. The same credit card is linked to some Azure services as well and no payments issues there.

Now waiting for the customer support to contact me.

#Update: According to MS Support the Power BI subscription had some old due amount on the previous (cancelled) card. For a reason or another their systems were not charging that due amount from the new card. They also couldn’t fix it manually so I needed to remove the subscription and create a new one.
